BioChem Week5 : Biomimicry = modern Feng Shui?

Biomimicry architectural design is a forward-thinking concept that has been implemented worldwide and is emerging in the US.  The Bullitt Center in Seattle is a recent example that is very conscious of the carbon dioxide footprint, general waste, and electrical usage yet it’s a green building with a posh look.

From the rudimentary concept of biomimicry, ancient tribes would select favorable locations along the riverbank that they can rely upon the nutrients and water from the source instead of at risk of being flooded out.  To the sophisticated Feng Shui geomancy principle of Yin and Yang, The Tai Chi, the Five elements, the Eight Trigrams, and further expansions into the 64 Trigrams.  These complex systems bring forth harmony of natural elements in relation to the land. Based on that concept within classical Feng Shui, it further propelled into the astral realm that a person’s lunar birthday has certain energetic imprints in one’s abode and how specific placement can influence positivity.  Also, how planetary astrological may influenced one’s dwelling based on their yearly celestial positions.

In Asia, biomimicry and Feng Shui may fused beautifully not only the building is certified per international green construction code, it is build based on Feng Shui principle that may yield desirable results that resonant with the nature.

It excites me that we are seeing biomimicry architectural design been introduced in the States.  I hope the governing architectural board may consider standardizing biomimicry protocols which is innate with the ancient art of Feng Shui.  It is a win-win situation.

Biochem Week4: 5G what else

5G was a popular topic of discussion today.  I think both groups pointed out different concerns and aspects of impacts from 5G.  For our group, we felt that we need more concrete studies and report.  Also, there should be an awareness of the source of the reports as often the objectivity of the reports is in question.

In one way, it is relevant to discuss potential health impact of 5G and the pro and con.  On the other hand, quite a few Asian countries already roll out 5G for five or more years ago.  There are advantages of 5G as one can see in these Asian countries.  It would be interesting to see if we are able to collect data or analysis of 5G’s health impact in Asia.

We also think that it might take decades or more before we can fully understand the impact of 5G.  but, from now to 10 years, different technology will emerge. Should we wait or should we embrace?  a true dilemma!

BioChem Week4: phasing out gas vehicle

I think conceptually sounds like a good idea, but I would like to see more factual data to support such decisions. According to some mechanical engineers, some challenges of electric powered vehicle is its limit on horsepower and battery sensitivities.  In other words, most electric vehicle cannot produce the initial torque nor has the horsepower comparing to a 6-cylinder gasoline vehicle.  This is going to present huge challenge for any truck owner or rely a truck to pull, toll, transport materials.  When one is loading heavy items on an electrical truck, it might have not only a speed issues and ability to drive uphill.

Secondly, the battery has issues at cold weather that it drains much faster when the temperature dip like during the winter season at the Sierra Foothill or Lake Tahoe areas.  There are many incidences of hybrid vehicle battery quickly drained empty during the snow seasons at Lake Tahoe so that they got stuck in the snow.

Third, the electric rechargeable battery for automobile are so expensive. If there is no sufficient warranty or technology breakthrough that more batter juice is able to generate and storage, the replacement battery are hefty in price.

Fourth, the price of hybrid or fully electrical vehicles like Tesla are quite expensive and can be out of the budget for most people.  This really limit the affordability of the lower- and middle-class people!

Thus, there are a lot to consider.
